For 62 years, the Colonial House has made solid wood furniture from the finest Appalachian hardwoods available. Only the top grades of lumber are used. All the furniture is of solid wood and assembled, sanded, finished by hand. All the proper furniture making techniques are used, such as, dovetailing, mortise and tenons, dowell joints, raised panels. We are known for solid bedposts, no laminates, and for a very high quality hand rubbed finish, second to none! There are approximately 13 steps to our finish. We are capable of color matching and some custom work. The Colonial House is one of a very few high end furniture makers who still make furniture the old fashioned way, by hand. The true craftsman is a dying art, but here at the Colonial House we are still training people to use their hands and to make something that people can enjoy and keep for a lifetime.
